What strategic planning is all about. Why it is important to have a strategic plan in banking. Key components of your Business Plan. Vision, mission and value statements why bother with them. Other elements of the business plan (management plans): human resource plan; operations plan (or marketing & sales plan); finance plan; and, customer plan. Other considerations in preparing your business plan: level of detail; time period; and, responsibilities.
Budgeting
Preparing budgets: what to take into consideration. Key assumptions and link to the Business plan and strategic plans. Who should prepare the budgets and level of details. Preparation of a detailed budget for your area of responsibility, over the next five years [we do not need computers for this process, though it is helpful if excel can be used during this session]. Questions and answers.
Implementing the Plan and Cost Control
How to implement your strategic plan. How to manage performance through the use of key performance indicators (KPIs). Setting targets for KPIs and managing them in your business. Most important elements of cost control and how to manage risks in your business.
